New fields added in Data Downloads

• The following fields are now included in all Raw Data Downloads:

Expanded filters that include ability to search on visuals

• For filters in several additional categories (Appointment type, Hiring path, State, Provider, Data validation check, Data element, Separation actions), users can now type in the Search box to identify filter selections.

• All filters now display the number of active selections for the filter.

Updated export functionality on visuals

• Visual exports will now include only the filtered results shown in the table view.

• When no filters are applied, all data will be displayed and exported.

• For the Employees by retirement eligibility, the table will continue to display and export all retirement timeframes, regardless of any filters applied.

Updated EHRI Data Standards, Duty Station, and Personnel Office Identifier data standards

• Agency subelement code updates:

  • Reactivated code: SX00.

  • Added new code: ARW1.

  • Updated existing codes: LDAQ, GAGP.

• Added legal authority codes: YTF.

• Added remark codes: A42.

• Added appointment types: 66.

• Duty station code updates:

Added Employee count filter to the Employees by veteran status chart

• Users can now toggle between Employee count and Percentage.

Replaced area charts with line charts

• This change reduces visual distortion and improves data interpretation.

Added page title: Federal Workforce Data (FWD)

• Title will appear in browser tabs and favorites.

Updated Fiscal year dropdown default to 2026 for:

• Federal workforce by pay plan and grade

• Salary distribution by agency and series

• Location by agency and state

Data Downloads page now defaults to the current data version

• The Data version filter automatically selects Current version so users see only the most up-to-date data.

Deferred Resignation Program (DRP) data available

• Data on DRP participation is now available in the Workforce Changes/Separations and accessions since January 20, 2025 chart.

• DRP personnel actions are defined here as separations actions that use 'RZM' or 'ADR' legal authority codes. Separation actions are also identified as DRP if the remarks field includes references to DRP or DRP-related remark codes ('R56','R23').

• Additional DRP actions are expected to be processed over time as agency-specific DRPs are fully processed.

Modified how users select filters on visuals to include searching

• For filters with several categories (Department, Agency, Subagency, Occupational series), users can now type in the Search box to identify filter selections.

• All filters now display the number of active selections for the filter.

Added year to year comparison to Location by agency and state chart

• Users can now compare employee count and percentage across two fiscal years in the Location/Location by agency and state chart.

Added new metric to Performance Ratings chart

• Users can now view the results by percentage as well as employee count.

• Implemented a new feature for the Performance rating distribution chart to compare results between two fiscal years.

Initial FWD version launched

• The initial version of the Federal Workforce Data (FWD) site was launched publicly. FWD replaces the legacy FedScope website with a more modern, user-friendly site to better meet the needs of the federal government and the public for timely and reliable federal workforce data.

• OPM expects to release new data and features each month.

Legacy FedScope data re-released

• Data previously released on FedScope (from the EHRI Status and Dynamics files, going back to FY 2005) is now available on FWD through consistent structured monthly text files. Time-based visuals in FWD generally go back to FY 2015; raw datasets are available in the Data Downloads page from FY 2005 to present.
